Volunteer coaches are an important part of the OGRCC programs. We would not be able to run our programs without the contribution of our fabulous parent coaches. Why volunteer?

1. Spend More Time with Your Child!
Enjoy the years when your child actually wants to spend time with you! There will come the day when they naturally spend more time with friends and teammates and less time hanging out with mom and dad. Coaching with your kids is a wonderful way to encourage a strong connection in the early years. And a great way to create fun and happy memories on and off the field – priceless!

2. Expand Your Adult Social Network
As a busy adult, it can be hard to find the time to make adult new friends. Being involved in our kid’s activities in a fantastic way to get introduced to like-minded families who value physical activity and family bonding. There will be team/family bonding on and off the field.

3.Develop New Skills
Never coached or managed a team before? Don’t worry we will give you the guidance and support to help you be successful! In fact, we often run clinics to help teach coaches about their sport and offer coaching techniques. And for all managers, we guide you on management tools and now we even have an updated website to make life a little easier for team communication. Here’s your chance to get out of your comfort zone and be a great role model!

4. Practice Important Life Lessons
Coaching reminds us to teach and practices important life lessons. Here’s your chance to encourage good sportsmanship, teach kids to have fun together, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership skills and more.

5. Stay Fit!
Chasing a bunch of seven-year-olds on the field will give you a great workout. Improve your own fitness level while working out with the kids. Time to get out and move with the kids!

6. Pride and Accomplishment
Is there anything better than to see the proud look of accomplishment on young kids when they score their first goal, make a great play, see amazing sportsmanship and teamwork in action?

7. Have Fun!
Wear your OGRCC coach shirt proudly and have fun! You will enjoy getting to know the kids on your team, helping them learn and develop, seeing them gain confidence, promoting risk-taking and leadership skills and so much more.

If you haven’t already signed up to coach or manage teams, please consider volunteering with the OGRCC this summer or fall. Please contact the office by email at office@myogrcc.org or by phone 203-637-3659 if you would like more information.
