The OGRCC would like to give a special shout to all the players on our 12U Cal Ripken All-Star team for their stellar performance over the past year!
This special team punched their ticket to the 2022 Cal Ripken Major 70 World Series in Branson, MO, by winning the 2021 New England Regional Championship last year. To cap off this memorable year, the team made it all the way to the Final 4 in the US Championship bracket, and not for an all-out diving catch by the opponent, would have played in the title game of the World Series!
The roster includes Will Conte, Max Corbo, Julian Dyson, Lachlan Hill, Gavin Kirsch, Maddox Monterisi, Jake Natale, Jaxson Perez, Mason Stoleru, Cal Tompkins, Luke Wells, and Liam Zeller. Jeff Mini coached the team with assistant coaches Steve Vlahovich, Brian Natale, and Dave Tompkins.
Our Greenwich All-Stars landed in the top 8 after their strong performance in pool play against Arkansas, Kentucky, North Dakota, and Oregon teams. They took down a strong team from Honolulu in the Elite 8 to earn their spot in the Final 4 against West Raleigh, NC. After the diving catch, the game ended in a loss for Greenwich with a final score of 2-1.
We couldn’t be more proud of these 12 boys and their families on this impressive run and for their tireless efforts over the past year to train for this accomplishment. We’d like to thank the entire OGRCC community who have supported them along the way and cheered them on from the stands or from afar. Good luck as you embark on your next athletic endeavors, and here’s to more future champions in the making!
